JD Cavalluzzi ‘25

“What really sets J.D. apart is his clear sense of vision with his storytelling. J.D. always knows what he wants, which is a vital skill when crafting a news story or any structured narrative. His work has purpose and always demonstrates a strong sense of organization. Over the past year, J.D. has shown remarkable growth in all aspects — artistically, emotionally, and in communicating ideas.  J.D. is also someone whose skills translate to all areas of media and content creation, from traditional filmmaking, to web content creation, podcasting, to vlogging.” — Mark Switzer, El Dorado High School


James Conlee ‘25

“James Conlee has a vision for filmmaking that is truly remarkable. He understands the art of cinematography and how to use a camera to capture a moment in an interesting and engaging way better than anyone else in our class. He is a hard worker and super dedicated to his craft. James knows filmmaking and what it takes to make a film and could carry out pretty much any role on set with confidence and poise.” — Mark Switzer, El Dorado High School


Josh Eady ‘25

“He has really focused on documentary filmmaking over the past four years. Since his freshman year, Josh has consistently created outstanding films that stand out for their originality, honesty, unique style and depth. His curiosity sets him apart — he doesn’t just rely on familiar connections for his stories; instead, he actively seeks out unique subjects, engaging with strangers to uncover compelling narratives. Josh’s ability to find and share meaningful stories through film highlights his remarkable talent and passion for the craft.” — Mark Switzer, El Dorado High School


Claire Ng ‘26

“Claire Ng is a junior in our film and broadcasting program. Claire is a class leader, involved in everything we do and an exemplary student. Claire Ng is a gifted cinematographer whose dedication and hard work continually elevate her craft. Her pursuit of excellence ensures that her work is always fresh, unique, and of the highest quality.” — Mark Switzer, El Dorado High School


Zoey C. Rodriguez ‘25

“Zoey is the most creative and artistic student currently in my film program. From the moment she applied to our program as an eighth grader, her potential was evident. Over the past four years, she has created several remarkable animated films, composing original music for some of these pieces — a feat that speaks to her multifaceted artistic abilities.” — Mark Switzer, El Dorado High School


River Santiago ‘25

“River has an incredible talent and versatility as an editor. Over the past four years, River has demonstrated mastery in editing across a range of formats, including news, documentary, and narrative films. His skills make him the go-to person for our class’s most significant projects, where his work consistently brings out the best in every production. River’s dedication and expertise make him an invaluable asset to our program and a deserving candidate for this recognition.” — Mark Switzer, El Dorado High School


Sophia Smith ‘26

“Sophia Smith is a junior in our film and broadcasting program. Sophia Smith is a talented filmmaker and actor whose versatility and creativity make her an outstanding nominee for Artist of the Year in the filmmaking category. Having explored various roles in filmmaking, she is now finding her stride as a director. Her recent work directing the 24-Hour Film Festival entry, the music video ‘Cry,’ highlights her growing confidence and vision behind the camera.” — Mark Switzer, El Dorado High School


Autumn Treister ‘26

“Autumn Treister immediately impressed me as a film student when she first walked in the door 3 years ago. Since that time, Autumn has really grown and developed as an extraordinary artist. Autumn is a gifted multitalented actor and filmmaker. Her films are meticulously made with an extraordinary attention to detail.
